SG X KR Masterclass 2024
The inaugural SG x KR Masterclass course is the brainchild of Aux Media Group and XON Studios, as part of the partnership between the 2 Virtual Productions studios. Here at Aux Media Group, we have been developing Virtual Production since 2020 here in Singapore across various types of on-screen productions such as live streaming, music videos, short films and MediaCorp projects.
The course will be led by Mr. Rick Chang (CEO, XON Studios) and Mr. Kim Young-ro (VP Supervisor, XON Studios), Mr. Choong Chyi Kei (CEO, Aux Media Group), Mr. Anthony Levi Kho (Head of Studio, Aux Media Group) and Mr. Cheah Chee Kong (Chief Creative Officer, Aux Media Group) The trainers have more than 50 years’ experience in cinematography, VFX and Virtual Production combined.
During the last 3 years, XON Studio has shot several VP productions for international OTT platforms and feature films, such as Queen Maker (Netflix Drama) and Switch (feature film). XON Studios not only have experimented with VP technology to shoot quality K-content, but also have created an efficient workflow using various technologies.
The course will bring 10 selected participants to Korea and allow them to experience content production using Virtual Production (VP). The 8 weeks long course would take participants through the fundamentals of VP, content development and actual VP shoot setup.

Timeline
The course is over 8 weeks, CONFIRMED dates are as follows.
- Singapore Session – Aux Studios – Basic VP Classes with practical sessions
- 19 Feb – 21 Feb 2024 (9am – 5pm per day)
- Mentoring Phase – Online
- 26 Feb – 2 Apr (1 – 2 hrs per week) – Concept Development and Assets Selection
- Korea Session – XON Studios – More detailed practical lessons and actual shoot
- 4 Apr – 16 Apr 2024 (9am – 5pm daily)
Selection Process
Participants who wish to participate in this masterclass should submit their application via this link (https://forms.gle/67idBar2MmUV298a8) by 19 Jan 2024. Shortlisted applicants will be notified via email to participate in an online interview with the trainers.
We welcome Singapore Citizens or Permanent Resident who are Directors, Producers, DoPs and filmmakers who has delivered their first long form project to apply.
In the application, participants should include the following documents in pdf or docx:
- A portfolio of past works
- An introduction write-up indicating your reason(s) and motivation(s) behind joining this masterclass.
- Able to commit to the schedule.
- A short script / synopsis of a content that you would like to shoot during this masterclass.
Amongst the 10 content projects submitted, two content projects will be selected by the trainers to be produced as group projects. Participants will be split into two teams of 5 to work on the 2 projects for the duration of the course, to produce a 3-5min VP Short film at the end of the course.
Course Fee
The cost of the bespoke programme is high as it provides participants with valuable opportunities to learn from Korean trainers, leverage on the services and facilities of VP studios in South Korea and shoot their final VP project with South Korea production crew. These costs are supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).
Accommodation, land transfer and meals will also be provided during the course days in Korea.
Due to the high cost of the programme, participants will be required to commit to the programme through their attendance and to pay a fee of S$3,000.00 (excludes airfare cost).
